The work will consist of maintenance tasks aiming to preserve the existing structure without adding facings or heightening. It will involve:
• Removing and replacing one to three layers of facing, on both the internal and external faces;
• Removal of the level, extraction of old blockages over 20 cm, and purging of old mortar;
• Creation of a solid "ruin-like" rockwork binding the two faces of the facing;
• Prospecting of the outer lining to uncover archaeological material.
The motivated team of "Les Veilleurs de Salm" will provide the technical supervision for this work.

Project hosted by
We offer you a collective and intercultural adventure in Alsace! Do you want to be part of it? On the program: a workcamp useful to the rural community, technical training, exchanges with local residents, animation with young people from Alsace, co-prepared meals, and the discovery of the Alsatian Vosges... And everything else we will build together!
The members of the association "Les Veilleurs de Salm" are hosting an international workcamp for the third time and are looking forward to this rich experience of sharing! Over a two-week period, various tasks will be carried out on the castle, which probably dates back to the 15th century. The work will involve consolidating the western curtain wall of the castle ruins. The "identical" consolidation of this wall began almost fifteen years ago, in conjunction with the French heritage services (Historical Monuments, Regional Department of Cultural Affairs). There will also be prospecting in another part of the castle (archaeological research type).
Directions to meeting point
Meet between 4 PM and 7 PM at Schirmeck-La Broque station (67130).
