The work will be organized around several small workshops, allowing everyone to get involved according to their interests. Participants will take part in gardening activities to maintain and enhance the outdoor spaces, painting work, and small DIY and repair tasks within the association's building. An artistic workshop may also be offered in the form of a mural, led by a graffiti artist, providing a collective creative experience. All these activities, both practical and creative, will contribute to making the association’s living and working spaces more welcoming for the benefit of volunteers and local residents.
Accomodation and food
You will be accommodated in shared dormitories at the Maison des Bateleurs in Montendre, where you will share daily life with international volunteers. The house offers all necessary facilities: showers, kitchen, garden, and even a bamboo grove. A vehicle will be available for commutes to the work site in Cercoux and to explore the area. Food will be provided for all meals. A food budget is managed by the camp leaders, and meals will be prepared in turns by the participants. We pay careful attention to environmental values, local resources, and cultural diversity (vegetarian and vegan options available). Participation in daily household tasks (cleaning and maintenance) is essential to respect the shared living space.
Location and leisure
Location : Valin (Cercoux - 17270) and Montendre (17130).
Leisure : Located in the heart of charming villages in southern Saintonge, this workcamp offers an ideal setting to discover local heritage. Outside working hours, you will explore the region through visits to local producers and tastings of regional specialties. Excursions may be organized to La Rochelle, Rochefort, or Angoulême, as well as a day trip to the Atlantic Ocean. The world-renowned towns of Cognac and Saint-Émilion are also nearby.
Project hosted by
Le Moulin Solidaire is an association deeply rooted in the Haute-Saintonge area, in the municipality of Cercoux, and active throughout the surrounding communities. In addition to its year-round solidarity actions—including a recycling center, a library, a solidarity shop, and a bicycle repair workshop—the association offers numerous activities and events for local residents. This year, La Maison des Bateleurs is partnering for the second time with Le Moulin Solidaire to host an international workcamp, complementing the local solidarity actions already established in the region.
Directions to meeting point
The meeting point is at La Maison des Bateleurs, 4 Avenue de Onda, 17130 Montendre, on September 22nd, between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
