The volunteers will participate in a community project where they will be riding an electronic coffee bike, providing people free of charge refreshments and a place to chat and connect. During the project a childrens summer day camp takes place, and the volunteers play games and do crafts with the participating children. They will get to be part of the camp, play football and other games, and spend time outside.
Accomodation and food
The volunteers will sleep in double rooms in Leinikki on air mattresses. Sheets and pillows are provided. The accommodation also has a common area with sofas as well as toilets and showers. Most of the food is surplus food from food wholesalers, but there is a large kitchen area where the volunteers can prepare any additional meals.
Location and leisure
Simonkyla is close to Tikkurila in Vantaa, adjacent to Helsinki. Nature is nearby: a forest with gym equipment is right around the corner and there is a national park with a lake for swimming, and kayaking. Volunteers can borrow bicycles for the duration of the camp in order to explore the area.
