As part of the “Summer in the City” programme, volunteers will help organize activities for approximately 25 to 30 children. Designed for children aged 6 to 13, the Integration Support Centre offers them a unique opportunity to meet people from different countries and enjoy an engaging, activity-filled holiday. The programme aims to boost their self-esteem and confidence, encourage them to communicate in English, and create an environment where they can learn about different cultures and traditions.
Volunteers role involves co-leading workshops, animations, and recreational activities such as arts and crafts, sports, and cultural exchanges. Volunteers will also support educators, assist with supervising children, and accompany them on excursions, which may include visits to a swimming pool or sightseeing around Warsaw. Given that some children have immigrant or refugee backgrounds, cultural sensitivity and adaptability are essential in creating a nurturing and inclusive space
Reflecting on the experience, one former volunteer shared how proud they were of the inclusive and supportive atmosphere created during the camp. Every child, regardless of background or ability, was given the opportunity to participate and thrive. Seeing friendships blossom and a strong sense of belonging develop was especially rewarding. The activities were designed to be both engaging and educational, catering to the diverse interests and needs of the children.
