Malagne is a non-profit organisation increasing awareness on archeology and promoting understanding towards the heritage of our Gallo-Roman ancestors. Malagne reconstitutes the daily activities of a 1st century villa: crafts, agriculture, iron and fire, cooking. Malagne has also developed a wide range of interactive workshops. Several festive weekends punctuate the season, including a Gallo-Roman festival on the 11th and 12th July that will be the highlight of the 30th anniversary of the Archeoparc.
Type of Work:
Volunteers will participate with the team in the preparation and the arrangement of a Gallo-Roman festival to make the public discover the Gallo-Roman expertise and crafts. The work consists essentially in the installation and dismantling of the infrastructures for the event (arbors, bar, barbecue, benches and tables). In relation to the festival, volunteers will also work on the maintenance of the site and its gardens (weeding, mowing, hedge trimming, haymaking). During the week, the site hosts summer camps for children, and the volunteers will be able to coordinate their activities too, together with the entertainers. During the weekend of the festival, volunteers will help the team (cooking, bar, etc.) while also being able to enjoy the different workshops. In case of bad weather, indoor activities will be scheduled (cob constructions, maintenance of historic buildings).Volunteers will have 2 days off during the project (before and after the Gallo-Roman event). During the weekend of the festival, volunteers will also have some spare time.
Study Theme
Malagne will share its knowledge about the historical aspect of this gallo-roman site with the group. The study theme is mainly focused on bringing our heritage to life through interactive mediation, thus reaching a wider public.
