The Cultural Association of Boquen creates a unique space for dialogue, reflection, and shared living. Through gatherings and workshops, participants explore social issues, everyday questions, and personal or spiritual paths in an open, inclusive, and non-religious environment. Discussions, artistic activities, and hands-on experiences encourage everyone to express themselves and connect with others, regardless of age or background.
At the same time, volunteers take part in the restoration of a historic site: a 15th-century building located next to a beautiful 12th-century abbey. Working alongside local volunteers, you will contribute to preserving this heritage through a variety of practical tasks such as repairing the old bread oven (masonry), painting, restoring stone walls, and gardening.
Type of Work
The volunteers will participate in the renovation of the 15th-century building in Boquen, located beside the 12th-century abbey, together with local volunteers. The tasks will be diverse and varied, such as masonry work to repair the old bread oven, painting the inside and outside of the building, renovating old stone walls or perhaps gardening. You will need to be physically prepared because you will have to carry things.
The plan is to create an environmental discovery trail on the 8,000 m² site. In addition, a small stone house dating from the 16th century will be renovated. Volunteers will also carry out lime pointing of the old stone walls as part of the restoration work.
Accommodation
You will be accommodated in a dormitory. Therefore, you must bring your sleeping bag and a pillow case with you. There are showers, toilets, a living room and a kitchen. Wifi is available on site. Food will be prepared by volunteers with local members of the association. Volunteers will also help with washing-up and cleaning.
Requirements: Bring warm and light clothes but also a hat and rain gear. Walking shoes can be ideal for your free time visits, and a bathing suit for a weekend at the sea. You must bring work gloves and waterproof shoes, the rest of the equipment will be provided.
