In an idyllic setting with breathtaking views of the legendary Fort Boyard, this project invites you to participate in the renovation of Fort Vauban.
Much more than a heritage preservation project, this trip will be a powerful human experience, combining encounters, intercultural exchanges, and a shared commitment to building peace alongside the local residents.
At the mouth of the Charente, the Fouras peninsula boasts three ports and five beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean, offering a privileged natural environment where sea, nature, and history come together in harmony.
The municipality of Fouras-les-Bains and the Maison des Bateleurs – Solidarités Jeunesses association are renewing their partnership to continue passionately working on the restoration of this remarkable monument, in a spirit of solidarity, discovery and collective action.

Over eight six-hour mornings, you will help restore part of the exterior paving of Fort Vauban. No masonry skills are required: this project is open to everyone. You will have the opportunity to work in a magnificent setting, with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Fort Boyard, while learning traditional restoration techniques and contributing to the preservation and enhancement of an iconic historic site.

Accomodation and food

Shared accommodation in tents at the Fouras campsite (swimming pool, multi-sports area, Wi-Fi, snack bar, etc.).
Do not forget to bring a warm sleeping bag and a pillow.
Bicycles will be available for all your trips around town.
Food will be provided for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A food budget has been set aside and will be managed by the activity leaders, who will keep you informed throughout the project. Meals, particularly lunch and dinner, will be prepared in turns by the participants. They must respect environmental values, local resources, and the cultural diversity of the group. Hot, cold, vegetarian, and vegan dishes will be available.

Location and leisure

Fouras-les-Bains (17450), Charente-Maritime, 20 km from La Rochelle

Leisure : You will have the opportunity to enjoy many water sports, such as fishing and sailing, in partnership with local clubs. The beach, bike rides along the coast, pétanque and other surprises also await you.
You can also visit several museums and neighbouring towns such as La Rochelle and Rochefort.
Highlights of the stay will include meeting the locals, who are eager to chat with you, especially over an international meal.

The management team will be waiting for you at Camping Le Cadoret in Fouras on Tuesday 9th, from 4pm onwards. All the information you need to get there will be on the project roadmap.
