For over 45 years, SCI:Moers has been actively supporting youth in Moers in various ways. This summer, SCI:Moers will offer a holiday childcare program for children aged 6-10 who are not traveling during their summer break. Over several days, groups of up to 20 children will come together to participate in a diverse range of games, sports, and leisure activities. The program, running Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM, includes excursions, sightseeing tours, art projects, swimming pool visits, and much more
Work descriptionAssist in planning creative daily programs for children in holiday care and enjoy an adventurous summer with them! Organize engaging leisure activities for children and support the staff in managing the groups.
For this camp motivation to work with children for long hours, bringing your own ideas for games and leisure activities are required. The children primarily speak German and hardly any English. Communication between you will mostly be nonverbal in the first few days, but you will be surprised at how well it works.
Study Theme: Get to know youth work and the German school system. Learn some basics in German with the kids.
Requirements
Motivation to work with children. Speaking German is not required in this camp but a big plus.
Special documents requiredFor this specific camp it's necessary to fill out a Child Protection form. It has to be sent to the host organisation before the camp starts.
Accommodation and food
Camp beds are available at the SCI:Moers facilities. Please bring a sleeping bag and a pillow. A shower, toilet, large kitchen, and common room are also provided.
Free time possibilities
Explore the sights of Moers, including the historic Moers Castle with its large park, the charming old town, an old watermill owned by SCI:Moers. You can also visit Cities nearby as for example Düsseldorf, Duisburg and Cologne.
Fees
Note: This is the amount you will pay upon arrival. It is separate from the sending fee.INCOMING FEE 50€ for volunteers applying via partner organisations and contacts of SCI: https://sci-d.de/incomingfee There is no additional fee for volunteers applying via SCI branches, because the SCI branches pay internal insurance and administration costs to SCI International already.
