Work:
The main task for volunteers is to deal with teenagers, providing cross-cultural learning experience for them as well as English language environment. It will be done through games, sport, club-like activities, excursions, discussions, etc. Volunteers alongside with local leaders will be responsible for the whole program of the children camp on 23.-27.07. The job can involve long working hours and require high level of commitment and responsibility for the camp program and the young participants. Some days may be quite long for late-night orientations, landscape game in the forest, campfire. It will be great if you could introduce your country, language and culture to young people.
Accomodation and food
Volunteers will share one room on the second floor of the same camp house where youngsters will stay. Bathrooms are of the common use. You don t need sleeping bags, but please bring your own towels. Meals will be served for all participants at the dining room. Help in the kitchen may be needed time to time.
Location and leisure
LocationThe camp site is located in the Jamaja village on Sorve peninsula in southern part of the Island of Saaremaa. This is the most south-west part of the country known for its outstanding beauty. Would you like to have a short-term active and meaningful vacation for a week in Jamaja village on the beautiful Island of Saaremaa? Then this camp is just for you The camp is organized for 20 teenagers aged 14-17, who are young leaders of Estonian scout-like organisations Noored Kotkad and Kodututred. The main aim of the camp to teach youngsters useful skills, providing them intensive experience of learning and practicing in communication, sport, orientation, nature, history, etc. The camp program includes many games and activities, sport, swimming, orientation, excursions to some places of interest, conversations and discussions, working groups. Working language is English and Spanish. Local language is Estonian.
Directions to meeting point
TerminalAirport, bus or train station, harbour in Tallinn. From the Tallinn bus station (Bussijaam) on Lastekodu Str 46 bus to Kuressaare. Trip about 4h 20 minutes. More information on www.tpilet.ee or www.luxexpress.ee On arrival to Kuressare you will be picked up by the hosts.
