Volunteers will be involved in a variety of activities, including the transport of materials for the construction of a platform and the Conchiglia di Venere, as well as the cleaning and routine maintenance of public spaces. They will also provide logistical support for the event Magnammu Assieme, helping with the transport of chairs and tables, setting up, and decorations. Exceptionally, volunteers may be asked to stay in the evening to offer additional support during the event.
Other activities will include the creation of promotional materials to publicize events, cleanup actions in the Capelli di Venere Oasis and along the surrounding trails, participation in gastronomic workshops focused on local cuisine and traditional crafts, and daily trekking excursions.
Accomodation and food
All volunteers will be hosted in a house located in the heart of the historic center of Casaletto Spartano. The house is simple and not modern and it has been made available by a private individual to ensure the success of the project. It has 4 rooms, equipped with both single and double beds, along with pillows, sheets, and blankets, but no towels.
There are also 2 bathrooms with showers, one bathroom without a shower, and a kitchen with the bare minimum required for preparing meals independently. A small living room is available for eating. Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate in selecting the ingredients to be purchased daily, taking into account both the availability of local grocery stores and the financial resources allocated by the project.
Location and leisure
Casaletto Spartano is a small municipality in the province of Salerno, located within the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its natural and cultural heritage. Situated at 400 meters above sea level and home to about 1200 inhabitants, the town includes the villages of Casaletto and Battaglia, separated by the Rio Casaletto. The area is rich in history and nature, featuring landmarks such as the 16th-century Palazzo Gallotti, the Capelli di Venere waterfall surrounded by a unique natural oasis, numerous caves, and a network of scenic trekking trails connecting sanctuaries and neighbouring villages. During their free time, volunteers enjoy the trekking trails or visit nearby towns and cities, such as: Sapri, Maratea, Paestum, Salerno and Naples.
Project hosted by
The camp is organised by Lunaria in collaboration with Cilento Youth Union. Cilento Youth Union APS is a non-profit organisation founded in Rofrano (SA) in 2015 on the initiative of local young people with experience in the design and implementation of youth projects, particularly within European programmes. The association’s primary aim is to contribute to the development of rural areas, with a specific focus on the Cilento region. Its motto, “Partire per Restare” (“Leaving in order to stay”), effectively summarises its vision: to offer young people physical and virtual intercultural spaces for dialogue and the sharing of professional experiences, while at the same time promoting transnational mobility within Europe.
