Show us what you've got! Your beat, your voice, your style – with the Hamburg HipHop Gang!
Fancy some fat bass, fresh lyrics and cool moves? Want to unleash your creativity and show us what you've got? Then this workcamp is just the thing for you!
Immerse yourself in the world of hip hop and learn from real professionals from the scene. With us, you can:
• Produce your own beats: Create your own soundtrack on a tablet or PC, even without any prior knowledge.
• Rap & sing: Find your voice, write authentic lyrics about what moves you and record your own song.
• Spray graffiti: learn all about styles, caps and cans and design your own piece – with respect for other people's property, of course.
• Learn hip hop & breakdancing: whether it's cool choreography or acrobatic moves on the floor, we'll show you the most important steps.
Our workcamp is not just about technique, but above all about you. You will strengthen your self-confidence, find new ways to express yourself and work as a team on a joint project. Fun, creativity and mutual respect are what count for us. We create a space where everyone can develop their own individual style – without bullying or exclusion.
At the end of the workcamp, you will have your own artistic creation in your hands that you can be proud of.
Accomodation and food
You will be living and working at the Neuwiedenthal Youth Centre (Haus der Jugend (HdJ) Neuwiedenthal), a new, colourful, large and beautiful building on the outskirts of Hamburg.
You will sleep in two rooms on field or air beds. The youth centre has a shower, several toilets, a kitchen and a huge room for eating and discussions. This room also has a table tennis, a pool table and a soccer table. Additional showers are located in the sports hall right next door. You can also use the outdoor area, which has a football pitch, a basketball court, two table tennis and a chill-out beach area.
You cater for yourselves and cook together. You will be provided with money for shopping. Vegetarian or vegan meals are possible. Please indicate any intolerances when registering.
Location and leisure
In your free time, you can enjoy your spacious and beautiful accommodation and the large outdoor area by participating in sports activities or spending evenings together in the chill-out beach area.
You can also go on excursions in Hamburg, where a wide range of leisure activities await you. www.hamburg.de (German) / www.hamburg.com (English)
At the weekend, trips to the beaches on the North or Baltic coast are well worthwhile.
Project hosted by
The HipHop Gang offers cultural workshops to where young people are, in a simple and straightforward way. The format offers courses in all areas of hip hop culture: rap, beat producing, DJing, bboying & urban dances, graffiti and singing. This allows young people to participate in creative work processes and develop their practical talents and skills, regardless of their social background. All of the offerings are committed to the core idea of the culture: respect for the achievements of others and for their individual expression. With this attitude, the participants develop their own style and their own artistic language.
