They will also take part in cultural and intercultural activities, sharing their own traditions, joining workshops, and discussing sustainability, agriculture, and independent culture.
Volunteers will be involved in the activities for about 6 hours a day. There is a forecasted free day after the festival for volunteers to rest.
Accomodation and food
The volunteers will be lodged in the farm guest house, and will sleep in two dormitories with bunk beds, with the possibility of being separated by gender. In the guest house they will have access to 2 bathrooms with showers, Wi-Fi, and a washing machine.
Meals will be mostly vegetarian and will be prepared together in the guest house shared kitchen. Vegetables during the workcamp and the festival will be sourced directly from the farm garden.
Location and leisure
The workcamp takes place in Marzabotto, in the Bolognese Apennines, characterized by a strong historical and symbolic identity linked to the values of memory, Resistance, and collective responsibility.
During World War 2, Marzabotto was the theatre of a massacre consisting in the mass murder of more than 1800 civilians by Nazi forces, which took place in the territory of the small village. For this reason, during the workcamp it will be organized a day of visits to the places of the massacre in Monte Sole Park and to the School of Peace. During their free day volunteers are invited to enjoy the local surroundings and take a bath in the nearby river, or visit the city of Bologna, which is only 40 minutes away by train.
Project hosted by
The camp is organised by lunaria in collaboration with Al di là del Fiume, a biodynamic farm located in the municipality of Marzabotto, in the Bolognese Apennines. The farm represents an active steward of the rural territory, committed to environmental protection, sustainable agricultural production, and the promotion of practices that respect natural rhythms and the landscape. For this reason, it is also home to the Biodistrict of the Bolognese Apennines. The farm is not only a place of work, but also a space for living, meeting, and experimentation, open to the local community and to cultural, educational, and social initiatives. Through biodynamic farming, hospitality, and the organization of events such as La Feccia Fest, the farm helps create connections between agriculture, culture, participation, and sustainability.
