Château Langenberg is located in Wissembourg, a small French village very close to the German border. It is an area surrounded by forest and nature where a community is living around. The community sets humanity and sustainability as their lifestyle’s core values, and they welcome everyone, regardless of age or nationalities, as long as you share the same values as they do!
The site covers 20 hectares and the community is working towards self-sufficiency and sustainability. To support this, they are building eco-friendly houses, developing a permaculture garden, and renovating the castle to improve its energy efficiency. Volunteers will take part in these ongoing activities in a collective and natural environment.
Type of Work
Volunteers will take part in a multicultural and eco-responsible community living project, experiencing life in a supportive community and sustainable environment throughout the camp.
You will also have the opportunity to work directly on the restoration of castle structures, contributing to the long-term preservation of this historic site. Tasks will include the renovation of existing ecological and sustainable buildings, interior renovation and layout work inside the castle building, restoration of beam heads, and the creation of new window openings.
Accommodation and Food
Participants will be accommodated in dormitory (bring your own sleeping bag). Volunteers will be responsible for preparing meals and washing up. Vegetarian meals are also available. You can find some old photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/154450404@N06/albums/72157716376004811/
