Kids Day Camp Weil der Stadt

PROJECT: Every year, the lovely people at the Weil der Stadt Youth Centre organise a summer camp for children. They work together with young adults and teenager volunteers to make this day camp happen.
WORK: Each year, the STARA Day Camp for children offers an opportunity for around 95 children aged 6-12 years old to enjoy the great outdoors. The aim of this camp is to give children from all backgrounds the chance to spend the summer holidays during the day away from home, when their working parents might not be able to go on holiday. The day camp is a place where children can have fun in a relaxed setting. There is no obligation to participate in the program and the goal is not to learn English. The most important thing is that the children have fun and explore. Together with a group of young local volunteers you help with tasks like putting up tents and preparing food. You will also be playing with the children. It is important to have a Workcamp there because they think it is really valuable to learn about other countries not only for the children but also for the local group of German volunteers. Please be aware: the local children do not speak English.
ACCOMMODATION: You will stay directly in the Sporthalle in Hausen. In the building, there is a big room where you will sleep. The floor will be covered by soft floor mats, so please bring your own sleeping bag and pillow! Inside of the building you will find sanitary facilities and a fully equipped kitchen. There is no Wi-Fi or washing machine, so remember that you will need to wash your clothes by hand and buy a Sim Card for Data. During the week you will have lunch together with all the kids. For dinners and during the weekend, your group will be responsible for going grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning after yourselves.
LOCATION: Weil der Stadt is a town with almost 20.000 inhabitants. It has a very nice historical centre and is located at the outskirts of the Black Forest – perfect for hiking, if you are up to it! Also public transportation is good, so you can easily reach the regional capital Stuttgart. The local youngsters are happy to make plans with your group in the evenings and go together to visit different places and cities around Weil der Stadt.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: We need a special motivation letter with your expectations and motivation. We also need a certificate of good conduct because you will be working with children.

NEXT INTERNATIONAL TRAIN STATION: Stuttgart – from Stuttgart main train station, it takes you 40 minutes. You can buy your ticket at the train station. Next airport: Stuttgart (STR)
MEETING POINT: You will need to take the bus from the Train Station “Weil der Stadt” to the Bus Stop “Hausen Würmtalstraße”. Meeting Point is the Sporthalle Hausen (Am Lindenberg, 71263 Weil der Stadt). It is nearby the bus stop. Please try to arrive between 1 pm to 7 pm.
