Music Festival Stuttgart

PROJECT: The festival is organized by Umsonst & Draußen Kultur e.V. Stuttgart, an association founded specifically for this purpose. However, planning, preparation, design, and organization are the responsibility of a group of local volunteers. The festival will run for three days, from 7th to 9th of August. It has been running in that unique and quite anarchic way for over 40 years now!
WORK: The Umsonst & Draußen music festival is the biggest non-commercial music, politics and culture festival in Stuttgart. It sees itself as the big celebration of Stuttgart's alternative scene. It is organised by an open meeting that anyone can attend and take part in. The festival would not be able to take place without the help of the volunteers; without them there would not be a place in the city for open and alternative music. This is why every year a Workcamp helps to set up the stage, stalls, and tents on the site of the festival and assists in different areas: bar, stage, organisation, catering, etc. Of course you will also have time to enjoy the festival yourself! Volunteers should be able to work long and unusual hours.
ACCOMODATION: In the first two days, you are hosted in a cultural centre in Stuttgart, where there is a kitchen and sanitary facilities. You sleep in the building’s hall in a shared space. On the third day, you move to the site of the festival to camp in a big tent all together. Please bring your own camping mat and sleeping bag. Food will be available. Sanitary facilities are given, but be aware of very basic festival standards.
LOCATION: With 600,000 inhabitants, Stuttgart is the state-capital of BadenWürttemberg. From museums, to castles and parks, this city offers something for everyone to see! Within a short train ride, you can also enjoy the variety of nature around Stuttgart

NEXT TRAIN STATION: Stuttgart – you can reach the meeting point using the city’s public transportation.

NEXT AIRPORT: Stuttgart, Frankfurt (1h15 from Frankfurt airport to Stuttgart main train station).
MEETING POINT AND TIME: Please, try and arrive at the accommodation between 11am and 8pm.
