The work will consist of maintenance work: it aims here to preserve the existing without adding facings or heightening. It will involve:
• removing and replacing one to three layers of facing, on both the internal and external faces;
• extraction of any roots in the facings;
• removal of the level, extraction of old blockages over 20cm, purging of old mortar;
• creation of a solid “ruin-like” rockwork binding the two faces of the facing;
• prospecting of the outer lining to uncover archaeological material. The motivated team of “Les Veilleurs de Salm” will provide the technical supervision for this work.

Project hosted by
We offer you a collective and intercultural adventure in Alsace! Do you want to be part of it? On the programme: a workcamp useful to the rural community, technical training, exchanges with local inhabitants, animation with young people from Alsace, co-prepared meals, the discovery of the Alsatian Vosges... And everything else we will build together! The members of the association "Les Veilleurs de Salm" are hosting an international workcamp for the third time and are looking forward to this rich experience of sharing! The work will involve consolidating the wall of the "western curtain wall" of the castle ruin. The "identical" consolidation of this wall began almost fifteen years ago, in conjunction with the French heritage services (Monuments Historiques, DRAC). There will also be prospecting in another part of the castle.
