In the heart of this charming village in Haute-Saône, there is a boundary wall that surrounds a public building. In many places, the joints are badly damaged, or even non-existent. The current appearance is unappealing, and the loose stones pose a risk to passersby. The local community would like to restore and secure this built heritage, which is located in a high-traffic area. Your task will be to restore and standardize the wall through specific steps, working approximately 6 hours per day. You will learn traditional masonry techniques. You will work as part of a team and, at the same time, participate in collective tasks such as cooking, cleaning, dishwashing, activities with the local population,etc,

Accomodation and food

You will be accommodated in a mixed-gender shared space in a large municipal building reserved for your group (maximum 14 people). Two rooms will serve as dormitories where you will sleep on camp beds. You only need to bring your sleeping bag and pillow. The place is equipped with a kitchen. Showers will be taken at the gymnasium of the village. A washing machine will also be available. Free Wi-Fi is available at the local tourist office, which is adjacent to your accommodation.
The worksite is just a few steps away, located across the street. For other travel needs, the local population will be happy to assist you with shopping or visiting the surrounding areas.
Accompanied by the leaders, you will prepare the menus based on a budget (about 5€ per day per person) and take turns cooking the meals daily. Vegetarian/vegan options will be available. Often, in these projects, you are invited to eat with local residents, another way to discover regional culinary specialties while sharing meaningful moments together.

Location and leisure

The commune of Faucogney-et-la-mer (70310) is located 50 km from Vesoul (70000) and 20 km from Lure (70200) in Haute-Saône.
Whether in the afternoon or at weekends, your group, with the help of the leaders, will organize leisure time activities. The interests of each person, local possibilities (hiking, lakes, large-scale puzzles, night markets, artistic encounters, local brewery, summer concerts, etc.), and the available budget will influence your choices. You can also rely on the locals to organize social gatherings. They will be happy to participate or offer advice to help you explore the area together, organize games, and enrich your experience!

In a beautiful village in the north of the Plateau des Mille Étangs, the residents are excited to welcome their third international workcamp, which will focus on the renovation of a wall in the heart of the historic streets. Their commitment is sincere, and they enjoy sharing their time with volunteers from all over the world through various activities, helping them discover the region in all its aspects. These interactions are set to be enriching, fostering cultural exchange and a unique sharing of experiences. A wonderful collective adventure awaits! This initiative is part of global efforts to create "sustainable cities and communities," an essential UN goal.

Directions to meeting point

A meeting point will be organized to facilitate your arrival at the accommodation. It is usually in the late afternoon, between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. On the last day, departure from the village will be around 9:00 AM.

Additional comments

This workcamp is funded by the European Solidarity Corps.There is no registration fee. Transport costs will be reimbursed up to a lumpsum fixed according to the travelled distance. Pocket money of €7 per day will be distributed.
