Work:
You'll be taking part in the enhancement of local heritage around the Abbey and its ramparts. Working with an archaeologist and a student, you'll be clearing, clearing and consolidating, and then carrying out careful excavation work on these two areas, which bear witness to previous centuries. The summer will be punctuated by local events where you will be invited to take part in festivities such as night markets, village festivals, etc. You will discover the welcoming nature of the local people and the charm of the landscape and heritage, as you organise your programme of activities with the other volunteers, the other groups hosted, and the leaders.
Accomodation and food
You will be welcomed at the Coly municipal stadium. Tents for two will be provided, as well as trekking foam mattresses. Remember to bring your duvet and a pillow. A covered dining area is reserved for you, with a kitchen where you can take turns preparing tasty dishes. You will prepare the menus and meals together, taking into account the season, everyone's needs, and the pleasure of sharing together.
Location and leisure
Coly - St Amand is located in Périgord Noir, 10 km from the Lascaux caves in Montignac between Périgueux and Brive.
During your stay, you will have the opportunity to participate in local festivities and cultural events, to discover the region, and to organise your programme of activities with the other volunteers and the animators.
Project hosted by
At the outskirts of an imposing abbey, you will walk in the footsteps of archaeologists of the early 20th century, clearing the wall of the cloister, keeping an eye out for any little details missed at the time. Nestled in the hollow of a green valley, the commune of St Amand de Coly is in the heart of the Périgord Noir, an area rich in history! Made up of two former communes that have decided to join together to form one, we'll be working to unite these formerly separate areas into one. The abbey of St Amand is proof of the power of the church in this area throughout the Middle Ages. After several years, we continue to work around the abbey of St Amand and its ramparts. Festivals, night markets, and village fairs will punctuate the summer. You will discover the welcoming nature of the local people and the charm of their landscapes and heritage by organising activities with other volunteers, other groups, and the leaders of your programme of activities.
