Description: Help maintain a nature reserve while enjoying stunning views of Lake Constance! Join us in preserving a unique natural landscape in Sipplingen, a picturesque resort town with a historic center, beautifully located on the shores of Lake Constance. This workcamp has been organized for several years in collaboration with the Regional Council of Tübingen and the municipality of Sipplingen. The steep shoreline landscape in Sipplingen is a protected habitat for rare animal and plant species. Regular maintenance is essential to prevent trees and shrubs from overtaking the valuable vegetation and to preserve biodiversity. By volunteering, you’ll contribute to maintaining this rich ecosystem, ensuring that pollinating insects continue to find a diverse range of colorful wildflowers.
Type of Work: Work alongside experts to clear shrubs and burn the resulting cuttings, remove grass clippings from conservation areas using rakes and pitchforks (on sloped terrain), and repair maintenance paths. It is essential to bring sturdy work boots with a good tread or hiking shoes, as the work takes place on steep terrain! Excursions to the many attractions around Lake Constance are possible. On one day, there is the option to go sailing and have a barbecue at Yacht Club Sipplingen e.V.
Study Theme: Biotope and species conservation; cultural landscape development; Lake Constance water supply; explanation of local flora and fauna.
Accommodation: In sturdy large tents directly on the shores/yacht harbour of Lake Constance, with modern sanitary facilities in a nearby building. Meals are prepared together in the kitchen tent.
Language: The camp language is English.
Requirements: A strong interest in nature conservation and a willingness to do physical work outdoors on steep slopes (good fitness and sure-footedness required!). Sturdy work shoes with a good tread are absolutely essential. Additionally, it is necessary to familiarize yourself and sign the safety protocol in case of severe weather.
Approximate Location: Sipplingen is a picturesque village located on the northern shore of Lake Constance (Bodensee) in southern Germany, within the state of Baden-Württemberg. It lies between the towns of Überlingen and Bodman-Ludwigshafen, offering stunning views of the lake and the surrounding Alps.
