At this camp, volunteering is about being part of a living, breathing community caring for the land, the people, and the spaces we share. Participants take part in hands-on ecological work, helping to restore areas affected by fire through planting native species, protecting soil, and supporting local biodiversity Ecological Restoration: Plant native species, protect soil, and bring life back to fire-affected areas. Community Connections: Collaborate with locals, join workshops, and share stories across cultures. Everyday Life: Water gardens, help with meals, care for shared spaces, and enjoy playful moments together.Every task is a chance to learn, connect, and grow with nature, the community, and yourself.
Accomodation and food
Our venues facilities include prepared and shaded camping areas, hot showers, indoor bathrooms and dining hall, as well as WiFi, charging stations, small library, tools and didactic materials.Accommodation is made in individual tents; please bring your own if you can, if you cant the project will provide one.The project will provide 5 meals per day (breakfast; Lunch; snack; dinner; supper). We serve a mediterranean diet, mainly vegetarian based as much as possible on the following ethical sequence: seasonal, local and organic.As an Association that has programs for all ages, you can expect to share the space with a children, youth and elders from severalbackgrounds and cultures.
Location and leisure
Novas Descobertas Association is located between Lagos and PortimEpoundo, in the natural setting next to the Alvor estuary. We are a part of the 43 hectare Quinta Vale da Lama, a regenerative farm that also features educational, wellness, and eco-lodging facilities. In the area closest to the estuary is Campo do Vale, our home. Near to our camp, only 15m by bike, you can reach our closest beach, Meia Praia. And only 3km away you can find our local village OdiEUxere.
