The volunteer will be caring for and working alongside adults with learning disabilities. This is a community for adults with learning disabilities consisting of seven households and a variety of workshops.
Work Description:
Living and sharing house with adults with learning disabilities. Helping with personal care, housework, working in one of our workshops; garden, estate, farm, craft, candles, bakery and woodwork. 2 days off per week. Additional 20 days of vacation per year.
Requirements: We are looking for volunteers who are able to share living spaces, people, willing to learn and who takes the initiative. Accommodation and Food:
Food: The volunteers would eat in the house with the other volunteers and residents. Organic food where possible, own bakery provides bread. Eating together in the households.
Accommodation: The volunteers would stay in the community. Most will have their own room, but occasionally they may be required to share with another volunteer.
Pocket Money: 230 GBP per month Visa Info: You will need to apply for a Temporary Work (Charity Work) Visa, Please be aware that this has replaced the Tier 5 Charity Work Visa. The application fee for this Visa is £310 and you can stay up for 12 months. To apply for this Visa you will need a Certificate of Sponsorship which will be provided by IVS at a cost of £55. Insurance: As part of your Temporary Work (Charity Worker) visa you’ll need to pay a Immigration Health Surcharge if you’re staying for more than 6 months (£1035 GBP valid for one year). You will also need to register with the local Medical Practice upon arrival.
