Work

Volunteers will be assigned to assist teachers in class, providing instruction, especially in foreign languages. Volunteers are also given the freedom to conduct sessions according to their background or profession to enrich the students’ experience. Volunteers will also create activities outside the classroom, such as in the educational garden.

Study theme: Basic Sustainable farming soft skill, Volunteer will learn how to manage non-formal education for kids

Accommodation and food

Volunteers will live with a host family near the school. The house has facilities such as a shared kitchen and a bathroom with Indonesian Basic Standard (Toilet, Wet Toilet, No shower or bath provided, and simple kitchen). Local food is prepared from food grown in the school garden or is available at traditional markets located not far from where the volunteers live.

Location and leisure

Leisure Time: Visiting local waterfall sites, beach nearby, visiting art gallery, and Balinese Hindu temple

Requirements

• Volunteers from English-speaking countries will be preferred
• High proficiency in English outside English-speaking countries will be considerable
• Has experience working with kids
• Special documents required: Motivation Letter

Participant fee: 220 Euro per month

It will cover living expenses (gas, water, electricity, food) and project materials. It shall cover the project sustainability program with the Bhumi Horta Foundation.

Additional information

Olas Asih School is a school located in Kemenuh, Gianyar, Bali. This school uniquely combines formal and non-formal education. At the school, students are invited to do some habits every morning, such as meditation, yoga, and prayer. In between activities, students and teachers are involved in gardening in the school garden.

Visa Information

There are two kind of visa you can apply. For 1 - 2 Months stay we recommend you to apply Visa on Arrival OR if you apply the program for 3 - 12 months you can apply C6B Visa. It is a type of Indonesian visa for social-cultural purposes, often used for volunteering. It allows for a 60-day initial stay, which can be extended twice for another 60 days each, resulting in a maximum stay of 180 days. SCI Insurance will applied for this workcamp but volunteers are requested to bear their own health and travel insurance.

About the Organisation
Bhumi Horta Foundation is a legally registered non-profit oganization in Semarang, Indonesia, focused on environmental education, sustainable farming, and community growth; it began as a grassroots movement on 22 April 2014 in Mangkang (north Semarang seashore) by building a sustainable food garden with fisherman families, was formally planned in 2016, and obtained legal status as a foundation in 2017. Its guiding principles are implemented through four pillars: Ecological Education, Community Empowerment, Advocacy and Research on Environmental Issues, and Peace non-formal education.
