Project Description

This camp is one of the activities planned by the project “Green UP! A community that heals, educates and regenerates.” A citywide environmental project, taking place in 6 neighborhoods, in continuation with an earlier San Leo Green neighborhood environmental project launched in 2022 in Parma's San Leonardo neighborhood.

The project has the following objectives:

1) raising awareness on environmental issues and specifically involving citizens in the first person as active citizens;

2) the protection and care of green areas of the 6 districts of Parma, including San Leonardo neighbourhood, throught monthly moments that involved all those involved in the project.

3) Artistic urban regeneration through murals and art installations in community places and/or green areas.

The camp is part of one of the activities under the Green Up! project, specifically in the care of parks and green areas in 6 city neighborhoods.

WORK

The group of volunteers will be responsible for cleaning and tidying up 6 green areas in different neighborhoods of the city by sorting waste with appropriate equipment. Peers from the city will also be involved in the activities. The activities will take place at 2 times of the day: morning 9am-12:30pm and afternoon 3pm-6pm. During the lunch break, get-to-know-you moments will be organized with the different entities involved in the project (ex. International lunches, picnics in the park, etc.)
Planned a meeting with the subjects of the different neighborhoods involved in this activity at the end of the camp to show the result and tell about the experience.

Accomodation and food

The volunteers will be accommodated at Student’s Hostel Parma, in the San Leonardo district. Multi-bed rooms with shared bathroom facilities will be reserved for the volunteers.

FREE TIME

It will be possible to visit both the city of Parma and its province, rich in history, monuments, castles and gastronomy. For those interested in visiting other cities, Parma has a strategic position that allows it to be in the centre between Milan and Bologna; in an hour by train it is possible to arrive in both cities. The railway station is easy to reach on foot and by bus.

TRAVEL:

The nearest airport is Bologna or Milan Bergamo and Milan Linate. Continue by train or bus to the Parma train station.
