Description: This project is organized together with Shiwa International Association (SIA), since 2001. The host organization, SIA aims to promote international mutual understanding and international friendship and goodwill among the town's residents, and to contribute to the creation of an attractive town with an environment and welfare that responds to the international community. It has been developing international understanding education for multiculturalism in elementary and junior high schools and other local communities through international workcamp. SIA would like to promote the development of an attractive town by helping children acquire an international sense from an early age. SIA also want to deepen their understanding of the state of local agriculture.
Type of Work: Volunteers will have some farm works like harvesting vegetables, Planting vegetable seedlings, picking up flowers. Volunteers will visit local elementary school and junior high school. Volunteers have opportunities to join physical education, music or calligraphy class. Volunteers can enjoy it with students. Volunteers also can show how your culture, music, dances and games to Kids. Please bring a lot of ideas about songs, games and dance etc.
Study Theme: The Internationalization of Rural Towns etc.
Accommodation: Volunteers will stay at public accommodation in the Town. Meals will be cooked by volunteers by turns. Sleeping bag is NOT necessary.
Language: English (Japanese is also welcomed!)

Approximate Location: Shiwa town, center of Tohoku area (north part of Japan), and located in central Iwate pre., in the Kitakami River basin, south of the prefectural capital of Morioka. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and river, is famous for fruits!
