Work description
Practical assignments to learn techniques for the preservation of World Heritage sites with a focus on cultural landscapes ("Hands-On Activities").
For example:
- Building dry stone walls
- Maintaining orchards
- Garden maintenance
- Maintaining biotopes (e.g., mowing, raking)
Accomodation and food
From March 15th to 27th, we will be staying at the youth hostel in Kaub (in shared rooms). You will be provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the camp.

This workcamp is organized by the German branch of Service Civil International (SCI). SCI Germany was founded in 1946 and is approved as a non-profit organisation. We are one of the oldest peace and volunteer organisations. SCI Germany aims to promote peace, non-violence, international solidarity, social justice, sustainable development and cross-cultural exchange through international voluntary work. We cooperate with a network of branches and partners in more than 90 countries. Every year, SCI Germany organizes about 50 international workcamps in Germany.
Requirements
Interest for the topic and english skills needed. A big plus: background in nature conservation, landscape or heritage preservation.
Fees
For this project, it is necessary to pay a participation fee of €150 on-site in Kaub to the local project partner. The fee is used to finance and realize the volunteering project (accommodation, meals, excursions, etc). Please do not book your travel tickets until you receive a final confirmation from us by 15 January at the latest.
