Reviving Calcata: Art, Nature and Local Life

Work

The volunteers will create terraced fields to provide areas for the cultivation of crops, as a method of more effective farming. In parallel, work will be done with the Fuori Calcata Association to improve the association's house: it will be a collective process of renovation and care of the spaces, to make them welcoming and functional. The project also enthusiastically welcomes artists and creative people, invited to contribute ideas and site-specific interventions. Cultural/music events for the local community will also be organized.

Accommodation and food

3 shared bedrooms with private toilets in each room. The Coordinator will sleep alone, the other people will share the mixed gender rooms. Wifi not available, but you can buy a SIM card in Rome airport. Bring your own sleeping bag and toiletries.

Requirements

Ability to work in a team, interest in nature, artistic and manual skills. Although it is summer, it can be cool in the mountains. No Wi-Fi and little phone coverage. Beware of allergies (dust, insects, specific plants). Bring hiking shoes, work clothes, repellent. No supermarkets nearby, but there are restaurants and ice cream places. Games or musical instruments are recommended for leisure time.
