In Fafe, the tasks include: Creating an organic, pedagogical and community vegetable garden; Repairing garden spaces;
Placing a floor for the circulation of articulated chairs (wheel chairs); Painting the exterior walls and repairing the existing one;
Repairing playful-pedagogical stimuli, such as trunks, tyres, etc. We will also request the support of participant to recover of environmental heritage through collecting waste and removing invasive species; Creating an organic, educational and community vegetable garden making accessible and signposting the leisure areas to be created in the forest context and identifying and building an interpretative trail in the nature.
Accomodation and food
Breakfast will be provided at the accommodation (school/gym) by the monitors and a rotating team among the participants. Since the work starts early (to avoid the hours of greatest heat), we intend to serve a midmorning snack to gain energy and delay lunchtime. The journey is continuous and at lunch, the food will be delivered by a catering restaurant at school/gym by 14pm. Dinner will be served at the accommodation at 8 pm (a warm meal to prepare for a comforting evening).Participants will sleep in classrooms of the school/gym divided by gender, with mattresses and access to common showers.
Location and leisure
Participants will be in Fornelos in the city of Fafe (rural, isolated area with an alternative school https://www.facebook.com/comunidadeekoa). Fornelos is the first eco-village of the district of Braga, in the city of Fafe which is known for its wild nature, mountains, river and dam with pedestrian routes. Fafe is located in the north of Portugal (1 hour distance by car from Porto and around 2h by public transportation). The main objectives of this project are: to develop healthy habits and lifestyles in the participants; promote self-development, self-esteem, responsibility and autonomy, contributing to the acquisition of personal, social and professional skills; to sensitize youth to the importance of their participation in community development and preservation of natural resources; acquire and / or reinforce the language skills of the participants; European citizenship and sustainable growth to fight climate change.
