Get involved with the inhabitants of the Saint-Jacques quarter of Clermont-Ferrand, to help develop the district's new park.
The animation team of the southern neighbourhoods is offering young international volunteers the possibility of taking part in the development of the neighbourhood park by creating various wooden constructions: the development of a space for the organisation of activities and events in the park, the construction of boxes for planting aromatic herbs and insect nests to encourage biodiversity in the park.
This project combines creativity, biodiversity and handiwork!
Working alongside a technical supervisor, you'll learn how to use hand and power tools.
Accomodation and food
You will be accompanied by two camp leaders throughout your stay.
You'll be accommodated at the campsite “Pierre et Sources” in Volvic, in the midst of Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, close to the Chaîne des Puys. You will be staying in one-person tents, there will also be big collective tents (protected outside areas) for socialising purposes.
The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of meals, prioritising products from the market and local producers. Free WIFI at the campsite. Washing of clothes by hand or in the machine at the campsite (paying service).
Location and leisure
The urban area of Clermont-Ferrand is Auvergne's lively capital. It is located in an exceptional volcanic area, at the foot of the Puy de Dome volcano which summit can be accessed with a panoramic train. During your stay, you will be able to enjoy the town's summery energy and the countryside which is located right on its doorstep (hiking over the volcanoes, swimming in the lakes, etc.). It will be a rich and varied experience.
Project hosted by
Since 1993, Concordia has been organising international workcamps with the city of Clermont-Ferrand, which shows how well this partnership works. The city has elaborated participative projects in cooperation with the local population. Every year, we come back to active neighbourhoods, where inhabitants created familial gardens and non-profit organisations develop their activities.
This workcamp offers you the opportunity to participate in the life of Saint-Jacques district, in the south of Clermont-Fd, where several Concordia workcamps have already been hosted to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants. This neighbourhood is undergoing a major urban transformation. Other associations and events will be present at the same time as you, so you'll be at the heart of a major neighbourhood event that will attract a huge number of inhabitants!
You'll be welcomed by the neighbourhood activities team, who will provide a space for your belongings and meals. Local young people will be on hand to help you get to know their area.
